Cedar Hollow Families,

What a great start to the school year! The students have been working hard to learn the rules and routines throughout the building, and it’s been wonderful to see their excitement to be back!

Below are a few reminders as we start a new year:

Drop-off and Pick-up: Drop-off and pick-up have been going smoothly. Thank you to parents for following expectations and helping keep everyone safe. Just a reminder:

  • Drop-off time is no earlier than 8:00 a.m.

  • The first bell rings at 8:20 a.m.

  • All students should be in their classrooms by the 8:30 a.m. bell.

Visitors: This is a friendly reminder that ALL visitors MUST check in at the office upon entering the school. Visitor stickers are required for anyone needing to enter the hallways for any reason.

Seconds on Food During Lunch: As a reminder, all 4th and 5th graders are offered seconds during lunch. 3rd graders will also have this option, depending on numbers/availability. Rules for getting seconds include eating your main dish plus two sides before asking for more food. Please visit with your student on your expectations about getting seconds on lunch, as I know they can add up fast.

Cell Phones and Smartwatches
Once students enter the building, cell phones and smartwatches should not be out. All communication between students and parents should go through the school office, and messages will be delivered to students as needed.

  • Smartwatches may be worn as watches only.

  • If a smartwatch is used to call or text, it will be put away according to the following steps:

    1. First offense – Warning.

    2. Second offense – Device kept on the teacher’s desk.

    3. Third offense – Parent will need to pick up the device from the office.

Outside Snacks:
All outside snacks must be individually packaged, store-bought, and include an ingredient label.

  • If your student is in an allergy-aware classroom, please follow your teacher’s specific guidelines to help keep all students safe.

  • GPS encourages healthy snacks as well as non-food birthday celebrations.

Staying Connected: A weekly Principal Newsletter will be sent on Fridays. You can also stay connected by viewing our school website, the Cedar Hollow Elementary Facebook page, as well as the Cedar Hollow PTO Facebook page.

Thank you for your support and understanding. We look forward to working with you this year!

Mr. Runyon,

Cedar Hollow Principal
